Eugene W. Akers, Trustee

Center Township of Marion County

Eugene Akers– a provider for the less fortunate, a protector of the taxpayer's dollars, and a champion for the citizens of Marion County. Trustee Akers accepted this challenge because of his love for children and senior citizens. He is a product of IPS, a graduate of Indiana State University, and a Veteran of the U. S. Army. Trustee Akers has dedicated over 37 years working for public service while employed at the Department of Parks and Recreations as well as Indianapolis Public Schools.

As a Viet Nam veteran, Trustee Akers sees the need to service the returning veterans who face a series of challenges and needs. Understanding the need of additional education or training for some individuals, Trustee Akers sought to provide programs to replace failures with faith, by offering electrical, computer, small engine repair, carpentry, GED classes, and more.

Eugene W. Akers puts his cares and concerns into action by assisting the community to strive for confidence and personal independency. He is a Trustee you can depend on. His life is centered on his most important title - father and grandfather. His motto is "A Hand Up – Not a Hand Out"
